From Bucharest, Romania — 3× World Champion Rueda de Casino (2007, 2008) and Vice World Champion in Salsa (IDO 2009). 30+ years of dance experience, teaching since 2005.
Alex started dancing ballroom & other latin dances in 1993 and over the years has achieved numerous national and international awards. His teaching career for social and competition dancing started in 2005 — couples he trained became World and European Champions in Salsa, Bachata and Latino Show. He loves the expression of passion that you can share through dance.
Bachata & Raqs Sharqi teacher
Silver Belly Dancer of the Universe 2012. Six years touring internationally with Bellydance Evolution, led by Jillina. Organiser of the Kan Zaman festival.
Badriyah is a professional Raqs Sharqi dancer devoted mainly to Egyptian classical and folkloric styles, modern fusion and the Golden Age of belly dance. She performed with Bellydance Evolution across Japan, Hong Kong, USA, Taiwan, Australia, Morocco, Greece and beyond. She is the organiser of Kan Zaman — The Golden Era Music & Dance Festival, and co-teaches Bachata at Shoonya alongside Alex.

Common questions
A 6-session bachata choreography series at Shoonya Dance Centre in Ghent. Taught by Alex Papaianopol and Lenka Badriyah, every Tuesday from 10 November to 15 December 2026 (21:00–22:00). A vibrant fusion of bachata, ballroom, and bellydance built into one bold choreography. Intermediate and Advanced level. Partner required. €75 (Shoonya members €67.50).

You'll build a complete bachata couple choreography across 6 progressive sessions with Alex and Lenka. Each session builds on the last — attending all 6 is part of the format.
Six consecutive Tuesdays: 10 November, 17 November, 24 November, 1 December, 8 December, and 15 December 2026. All sessions run 21:00–22:00 at Shoonya Dance Centre, Ghent.
