This short choreo series is designed for dancers who've mastered the basics and crave something fresh, expressive, and unforgettable. We'll dive into a vibrant fusion of styles, blending bachata's playful soul with:

  • Elegant turns and flowing arm lines from ballroom
  • Hypnotic hip work and isolations inspired by bellydance
  • Energetic footwork drawn from diverse dance traditions

All woven into a bold, musical choreography set to a track that demands attitude, precision, and flair. Expect creativity, connection, and a touch of drama.

Alex started dancing ballroom & other latin dances in 1993 and over the years has achieved numerous national and international awards. His teaching career for social and competition dancing started in 2005 — couples he trained became World and European Champions in Salsa, Bachata and Latino Show. He loves the expression of passion that you can share through dance.

Badriyah is a professional Raqs Sharqi dancer devoted mainly to Egyptian classical and folkloric styles, modern fusion and the Golden Age of belly dance. She performed with Bellydance Evolution across Japan, Hong Kong, USA, Taiwan, Australia, Morocco, Greece and beyond. She is the organiser of Kan Zaman — The Golden Era Music & Dance Festival, and co-teaches Bachata at Shoonya alongside Alex.

What is the Bachata Choreo Minireeks?

A 6-session bachata choreography series at Shoonya Dance Centre in Ghent. Taught by Alex Papaianopol and Lenka Badriyah, every Tuesday from 10 November to 15 December 2026 (21:00–22:00). A vibrant fusion of bachata, ballroom, and bellydance built into one bold choreography. Intermediate and Advanced level. Partner required. €75 (Shoonya members €67.50).

What level do I need?

Intermediate and Advanced. Bachata experience required.

Do I need a partner?

What will I learn?

You'll build a complete bachata couple choreography across 6 progressive sessions with Alex and Lenka. Each session builds on the last — attending all 6 is part of the format.

What are the exact dates?

Six consecutive Tuesdays: 10 November, 17 November, 24 November, 1 December, 8 December, and 15 December 2026. All sessions run 21:00–22:00 at Shoonya Dance Centre, Ghent.

How much does it cost?

€75 for the full series of 6 sessions. Shoonya members pay €67.50 (10% off). You register for the full series — individual sessions cannot be booked separately.
